Haha, yeah. One of the dangers of wrangling bots is getting a real person!

And unfortunately, it appears they are a protected species.

Care to tell us where this spot is? I'd go looking for it, but I'd prefer to just get to the fun quickly.

I wrangled what i assumed to be a bot, invited a list and one accepted. It didn't say a word to me and left the area, so using my build i helped it kill the first set of undead and then the next group. It then stopped and traded and cancelled with me twice, then it left

A good place to do this would be Altrium Ruins (sp?). I was there yesterday and you should see the swarms of Mo/Me running up the stairs and to the gate. I'd post a screen shot but I don't know how. It was like watching salmon go up stream during mating season.

This is more like a documentary on the activities of the bot in it's own habitat , more than a 0H n03s b0ts we iz all d00omed!!one!11!
So it's not really the same as all the other threads, so why delete it?

You know, this could be the way to stop botting. Players join their groups and take everything! Hah

I think this is a valid thread, since we're discussing how to screw with the bots instead of whining about them.
Come to think of it, this could be our little way to fight back against them. Though if someone tries to wrangle me when I'm out there.....

We just decided to go check out the bots we all see everywhere. We hit up Granite, Marketplace, all that goods stuff, but at Bergen we had some fun trying to get these little Mo/Ws into our group.
The first few couple of times we laughed for a while as the bot went and farmed us some drops. That blue dye is getting a special place in storage, no doubt. Then we graduated to trying to foul the bots up; getting them killed before they had all their prot spells on. Or we would get two and watch them race. Fun times while sleep deprived.
But then things got interesting. Yes, we actually managed to snag some with actual human beings behind them. If anyone is curious, they speak at least rudimentary Mandarin with a handful of English euphemisms.
How do we know it wasn't one smart bot? We got a couple of them "wrangled." A guildie tried to test them. He dropped a couple gold. They both ran for it, but one, after not getting the gold, went back to farming. The other one followed him, clearly begging for more. He would move away, he/she would follow, even orientating his character to face my friend, and even dropping a few things in return, as if just to show that he was there. Ah, cross-culture communication.
I'm not trying to troll or anything here, and yeah, the vast majority of what we encountered were computer programs, but who knows what was going on with these people? ANet can't just drop a ban hammer like everyone wants 'em to.
Also, I learned many new ways to swear in Mandarin. Bonus.

You made my day I am going to try this !

Nope i'll settle with a million euro's anyways ( Also seeing euro's are worth more then dollars ).
If you would script a bot macro, would you create a:
Code:
if(partyinvite==true)
{
Accept party member;
}
I don't think bot's are keen on sharing their loot with anyone but them selfs.
Now you could join a chinese farmer, because that are actual people playing.

Well the bots are the ones who invite the person. So really it could be considered their fault for inviting someone and not telling them what's going on.
